Microsoft offers voluntary buyouts to ~60,000 employees to fund its AI push
The Verge AI · rss · 2026-10-30
Per The Verge, Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to around 60,000 employees across the US, UK, Canada and India — the first time the company has extended such an offer at this scale, greatly expanding on a retirement offer limited to 9,000 employees earlier this year. It signals Nadella's stated view that AI will fundamentally reshape the company's workforce, aiming to cut operating costs without reducing AI infrastructure investment.
