Ofir Press: AI's jagged frontier advances unintuitively — math robots beat self-driving cars
OfirPress · x · 2026-10-29
Ofir Press reflects that 15 years ago he wouldn't have believed generally-accessible field-level math robots would arrive before generally-accessible self-driving cars.
His explanation: math is far more 'concrete', 'definable', and RL-able than other fields including SWE, so progress elsewhere won't be as fast — and the jagged AI frontier will keep advancing in ways unintuitive to humans.
