Solo dev ships AI-coded FPS demo on Steam: 3,929 commits in 20 working days

Ekin, a one-person game studio in Turkey, shipped a free Steam demo of the cartoon-noir FPS Iron Curtain Call coded entirely by Claude Code agents: 3,929 commits over 20 working days in Godot 4.7, with the full 12-chapter game due March 11, 2027.
What agents did well:
- Game systems (Doom-style resource loop, nine weapons, 49 robot types, bosses), HUD and tooling
- A headless test suite gating every merge: zero script errors, a bot playing levels, navigation/geometry checks
- Parallel work: one lead session plus cloud feature sessions, each on its own branch
What they couldn't do:
- Know what's fun — the demo level went through four versions; human playtesting added a whole section
- Every joke, the story and the cuts remained human
- Real engine bugs (Godot audio-thread race in headless runs) and platform quirks (a minute of shader compilation on Macs) needed measured workarounds, not prompts
Disclosure: voices via ElevenLabs (2,800 lines), some art/cinematics via Higgsfield, score via FluidSynth; no AI runs during play. Several genre subreddits ban generative-AI games, which the author sees as its own data point.
