The Commanding Heights: year-long essay argues AI gains accrue outside San Francisco
johncoogan · x · 2026-10-29
Will Manidis and Joe Roberts publish "The Commanding Heights," a year-long essay arguing the benefits of abundant intelligence will accrue far outside San Francisco. It maps the scarce, controllable positions of economic power that will durably capture the gains of increasingly capable and diffused intelligence, covering capital, sovereignty, and a coming reordering of economic power — told through the story of an IIT Madras graduate in Bangalore. Endorsed by John Coogan; feedback from Shyam Sankar, Sriram Krishnan, Patrick O'Shaughnessy and others.
