The author runs DMtheFounder, a one-person job board for early engineering roles, entirely on Cloudflare Workers' free plan (TanStack Start + D1) at $0/month. First wall: the free plan allows 10ms CPU per request, but server-rendering React pages measured P50 54ms / P90 206ms / P99 437ms, triggering Error 1102 on traffic spikes. Fix: full-page edge caching for anonymous visitors via caches.default — 5-minute TTL, cache key strips utm params, sorts the rest, and appends the deployment version (via versionmetadata binding) so deploys invalidate automatically; logged-in users bypass cache. Cache hits drop CPU from 50ms to 1ms.
