42% of UK's 2030 data centre pipeline has no named tenant, report finds

A Science Works report mapping the UK data centre pipeline via satellite imagery and planning data identifies a third bottleneck beyond planning and grid: 42% of the 5.7GW planned for 2030 is being developed by land promoters with no disclosed tenant — versus 33% in the US and 16% in the EU.
The government wants to build more capacity in five years than in the previous twenty, yet only 13% of planned capacity is under construction. The report argues support schemes must fix grid and planning without making domestic construction prohibitively expensive.
