Letting an agent drive my backtest software: natural language to strategy, human-confirmed before running
Extreme_Leg_6162 · reddit · 2026-10-29
A trader's practice writeup: rigorous backtesting involves many discrete tedious steps, and turning a vague strategy into precise code can take hours to weeks. Their agent-driven setup uses their specified backtester: the agent converts plain-English descriptions into backtestable strategy code, but will never run a backtest before the user reviews the code or flow — the agent first asks whether the generated logic matches intent, or whether you want to edit parts via natural language.
