French town of 2,000 digitizes all civic services, saving an hour a day on school roll call

Marolles-les-Braults, a French town of about 2,000 residents, has digitized and automated its civic services to run 24/7. Example: a parent reports a sick child online at 6am, the system notifies the school and automatically removes that day's canteen charge from the bill. The canteen manager previously spent an hour each morning taking attendance and another hour each afternoon passing data to accounting — time now redirected to children and human-contact projects.
