'AI is just a tool' misses the point: writing and print reshaped humans too
YogeshMalik · x · 2026-10-29
Arguing against the 'AI is just a tool' framing: it assumes the user stays constant while the tool changes, which has never been true. Writing rewired memory, the printing press dissolved the Church's epistemic authority, and the clock turned time into a commodity. The real question isn't whether AI is a tool, but what kind of human this tool produces on the other side of the loop.
