Dartmouth provost resigns after committee finds undisclosed AI use in his writing
RexDouglass · x · 2026-10-29
Dartmouth provost Santiago Schnell has resigned after an independent faculty committee found he used AI in op-eds and academic publications without proper disclosure. The probe followed a Semafor investigation and a student-paper report showing his 2026 sole-authored pieces were all flagged as AI-written by detector Pangram. History professor Matthew Delmont becomes interim provost through June 2028. The poster adds that academia is imploding over AI norms while arguing anyone not using these tools now simply isn't good.
