Indie hacker OPSEC: never expose your domain, traffic and revenue together
gefei55 · x · 2026-10-29
A Chinese indie hacker dissects the dark side of Build in Public: besides honest builders, some people exploit the BIP label to demand others' domains. Core advice: never expose site, domain, traffic and revenue simultaneously; use a separate identity when promoting elsewhere so scraped data can't be linked back to you; explicitly monetized indie products, once publicly discussed, face unpredictable consequences. Funded startups are out of scope.
