ServiceNow Falls 19% After Beating Targets as "SaaSpocalypse" AI Fears Hit Stock

ServiceNow beat its own quarterly targets yet fell 19% after hours as investors fret that AI agents could erode its seat-based SaaS business.
- September-quarter revenue rose 20.5% to $4.106B, down from 24% growth the prior quarter
- The sharper worry: current remaining performance obligations grew 20.5% to $13.65B, and growth is guided to slow to 18.5% this quarter (total revenue guided to $4.25B, roughly +23%)
- AI metrics look strong on paper: AI deal volume up 80% YoY, and the 2026 AI ACV target raised to $1.7B from $1B in January
- But $1.7B is tiny next to $15.77B of expected 2026 subscription revenue — the seat-based business investors fear agents could erode
Next quarter's cRPO will test whether AI revenue can grow faster than contracted revenue slows.
