Dev Shows Memory Graph of AI TTRPG Engine: 1947 Nodes Growing Each Turn
Edenisb · reddit · 2026-10-29
A developer showed off a visualization of the "memory substrate" behind their AI roleplay engine: a Shadowrun world running as a multiplayer campaign on Discord with an AI acting as GM. The visualization already contains 1947 nodes and 7228 links, with every turn, NPC, location, item, and fact represented as a node.
- Memory architecture: a custom "energy system" — content relevant to the current plot gains heat and spreads along links; the GM draws primarily from high-heat content, while untouched content gradually cools and fades, much like real memory
- A living world: NPCs are driven by independent agents with goals, doubts, and opinions of other characters; offscreen characters keep acting autonomously and may reappear in surprising ways
- Image generation: characters, locations, and items get illustrations generated on the fly via OpenAI's image model
- The author says it may not be open-sourced, and was built mainly in collaboration with Claude Opus 5.5 rather than pure vibe coding
