Suhail launches Particle with particle-1: parity performance using ~45% fewer tokens
inductionheads · x · 2026-10-29
Suhail announced his new company Particle, the first in a series of developer-focused models. particle-1 targets token efficiency, keeping parity in performance while using 45% fewer tokens, and is live now.
Benchmark charts show particle-1 outputting far fewer tokens per task than DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and GLM 5.3 Flash across DeepSWE 1.1 (59.6k), Terminal-Bench 2.1 (24.8k), ReactBench (41.3k), and ADE Bench (9.6k).
Box CEO Aaron Levie, quoting the launch, argued agents will consume 1,000X more tokens than today as they run in workflows, process all data, and build nearly all software — requiring both stronger closed models and more efficient, secure open-weights models.
