Doom now runs inside Qwen model weights, ~20k instructions per frame
mapestree · reddit · 2026-10-29
Building on the qwenputer project — a 32-bit RISC-V CPU implemented inside Qwen3.5-4B's weights — Reddit user mapestree got a basic version of Doom running on that in-weights virtual machine, releasing the qwenputer-doom repo.
The screenshot shows the E1M1 level with every frame computed by the RISC-V CPU: a turn takes roughly 20-40 seconds, with the CPU executing 15-30k instructions per frame (turn 9: 22,335 instructions, 27.8 seconds). Painfully slow, but it's Doom on an LLM.
