Stack Overflow posts under 1,000 questions a month as founders' open ethos revisited

Stack Overflow hit a record low of fewer than 1,000 questions posted last month. In a viral thread, sytelus argues the founders' commitment to keeping 100% of content open — offering structured data dumps, never walling it off, even at the cost of monetization — was pure hacker spirit, and that this openness directly enabled the AI revolution, as the entire archive was freely downloadable for pretraining while Reddit and others chose lawfare and firewalls.
