Sam Altman: models find hardware-level bugs 'outside the threat model' — 'we can't patch all of it'

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said: "I don't even know a dramatic enough word — models can find bugs outside the normal threat model of what we think a hacker can do… hardware-level, insane stuff… I no longer think we're gonna be able to just patch all the bugs."
Harvard-affiliated researcher Édouard Harris read this as implying two things: (1) the internet as we know it is over, and (2) AI advancement must clearly be halted before the same becomes true of biosecurity. OpenAI safety researcher David Krueger also amplified the exchange.
