Cognition weighing new round at $70-80B valuation, weeks after $48B raise

Business Insider reports that AI coding startup Cognition, maker of Devin, is fielding investor interest at a $70–80B valuation just weeks after raising at $48B, and is seriously considering closing a round before year-end. Talks are early and targets could shift.
Founded in 2023 by Scott Wu, Steven Hao, and Walden Yan, Cognition is backed by a16z, Accel, Founders Fund, Khosla Ventures, and others. Commenters speculate Meta could acquire it — analogous to SpaceX's $60B Cursor acquisition — arguing coding is the holy grail; Google is out after the Windsurf drama, and OpenAI/Anthropic have no need.
