mcp-coatcheck adds MCP Tasks to any server with one npx command, ending long-call timeouts
Awacer · reddit · 2026-10-29
MCP Tasks shipped in Claude Code last week, but almost no servers implement it. Developer emrehangorgec built a zero-dependency proxy, mcp-coatcheck, that sits in front of any stdio server: npx mcp-coatcheck -- <your server command>. Calls longer than a few seconds return a task (or a job id for clients that don't speak Tasks) to pick up later; fast calls pass through untouched. Tested with mcpc and Claude Code; Codex/Cursor unverified. It solves a common MCP pain point: long tool calls (e.g. a 40s test run) hitting client timeouts (15s) and being falsely reported as failures.
