From a bedroom Linux PC to cloud boxes: a year of iterating a remote Claude Code setup
bigaiguy · x · 2026-10-29
The author shares how his remote dev setup evolved this year: it started with Claude Code on a Linux PC in his room, reached via Tailscale + Termius + tmux from his phone — painful usability and flaky WiFi. A Vultr VPS wasn't much better, and he eventually quit his job to start a company.\n\nThe team moved machines to DigitalOcean, then onto Prized cloud boxes, and built a web terminal that works well on phones, eliminating tmux tab-switching pain. He later switched to Herdr, then Rex, letting him hop between machines and see every session. His takeaway: the terminal keeps changing, but the boxes don't have to.
