Giotto launches as 'European sovereign AI,' gets exposed as Kimi-based with benchmark EULA gag

Swiss startup Giotto launched Giotto Alto and Giotto Solo, billing them as 'the smartest European sovereign AI models,' with EU-hosted infrastructure and a single-GPU Solo variant.
Developer oneillc immediately called it out: Giotto is trained on Kimi, and its CEO wrote 8 days earlier that open source is a 'Trojan horse for Europe' — then used the same open-source route to raise from unsuspecting investors. He notes the launch benchmark table is half-saturated legacy math with zero agentic evals, and the EULA bans users from publishing their own benchmark numbers. 'Incompetence can itself be a form of evil,' he warns, urging investors to steer clear.
