Perplexity CEO backs Particle, a new startup optimizing open-weight models for cheaper serving

Perplexity CEO Arav Srinivas announced a partnership with Particle, a new company by Suhail's team focused on optimizing open-weight models to be more token-efficient and cost-efficient to serve. The two teams have already collaborated ahead of Particle's launch and plan to work together on tools like search and model orchestration — another new player in the open-weight inference economics space.
