Kaggle kicks off Bench Summit, arguing today's AI benchmarks fail on relevance, compute and verification

Kaggle has officially kicked off its Bench Summit, aiming to become the industry-standard benchmark provider the way it is for competitions.
Kaggle's janiejgu outlined three ways benchmarks fail today: (1) Relevance — public leaderboards may not resemble what agents do in production; (2) Compute — evals rot within a release cycle, and staying fresh is too expensive without ongoing compute; (3) Verification — everyone runs on their own harness, so scores vary wildly due to infrastructure rather than model quality.
