Google teased internal-only 'Gemini 4 Carbon', Nathan Lambert calls it a pre-emptive move
natolambert · x · 2026-10-29
Hugging Face researcher Nathan Lambert says the teased Gemini 4 Carbon model is only accessible internally and not public, reading it as a graspy, last-ditch move to sneak it out before a rival model he calls Fable 5.5 potentially blows it away.
He stresses the blame lies entirely with leadership, not the individual contributors: "IC's clearly cooked hard."
Note: Gemini 4 Carbon remains an unverified rumor — Google has not confirmed it.
