Sentry founder: pytest-style lazy shared fixtures beat per-suite resource management
zeeg · x · 2026-10-29
Sentry founder David Cramer argues vitest should adopt pytest's fixture model: auto-bind shared resources like def testx(self, db), initialize lazily, clean up only after tests that actually used them, all implicitly controlled — yielding fewer flaky tests. He pushes back on per-suite explicit resource management, saying it should stay global and implicit.
