GitHub launches Copilot Projects: project-level AI agent spanning multiple repos
0xkarasy · x · 2026-10-29
GitHub shipped Copilot Projects, addressing Copilot's lack of whole-project context for multi-repo apps, available today:
- Cross-repo context: move from single tasks to projects spanning repositories without losing context, with your own tools brought in
- Parallel tasks: each task gets its own session, tracked from one view
- Multi-surface continuity: long-running tasks can continue or resume across the Copilot desktop app, CLI, editor, github.com, and GitHub Mobile
- Automation & code review: reusable agent tasks run on demand, on a schedule, or from triggers; PR review combines team feedback with checks and can delegate follow-ups to the cloud agent
- Model choice: assign one or more models per task, or let Copilot choose
A significant workflow upgrade for developers maintaining multi-repo projects.
