a16z · x · 2026-10-29
a16z surveyed 100 CISOs at companies with 1,000+ employees and found AI has rewritten the security agenda: all seven most-selected 2027 priorities involve AI. Biggest jumps vs 2026: internal AI agent security (+28 pts), AI SOC (+26), AI offensive security (+24), AI code security (+23), AI vulnerability remediation (+22). Last year's staples fell sharply — exposure & vulnerability management (-21), SIEM/security data (-18), privileged access management (-18). Bain estimates AI compresses a typical cyberattack from 4 weeks to 18 hours, while employees ship apps they couldn't build a year ago and agents gain access to source code and production systems.
