Anthropic eyes up to $2T IPO while warning its own AI could doom humanity
GaryMarcus · x · 2026-10-29
Per Futurism, Anthropic is preparing an IPO at a valuation of up to $2 trillion despite losing a reported $80B in H1 2026 alone. Its prospectus puts "catastrophic or existential risks to humanity" from its own products front and center, admitting there is "no assurance" its safety efforts will suffice — likely the first company to go public arguing its own existence could be humanity's downfall. Gary Marcus quipped: "one man's dark joke is another man's mega IPO."
