Dev builds a GitHub knowledge layer: MCP server indexing the 60% of knowledge hidden in comments
jamesmurdza · x · 2026-10-29
jamesmurdza built a GitHub knowledge layer for coding agents, based on the observation that 60% of GitHub's knowledge lives in comments that GitHub doesn't index.
The stack:
- An @inngest pipeline to chunk and index comments
- A vector store with hybrid semantic + keyword search
- An MCP server exposing it to coding agents
Lets agents retrieve context and discussions buried in comment threads, not just the code itself.
