GitHub's Copilot Fusion matches Opus 5.5 coding agents at half the cost per task
ArtificialAnlys · x · 2026-10-29
GitHub released Copilot Fusion, a runtime orchestration system that selects among Anthropic and OpenAI models (Claude Opus/Sonnet 5.5, GPT-6 Astra/Sol) to optimize performance, cost, and latency. Artificial Analysis benchmarked it in the Coding Agent Index v2.0:
- Cost-efficient: $5.59 per task vs $11.42 for Claude Code with Opus 5.5 (max), scoring just 2 points lower; Devin Fusion scores 62 at $8.00/task
- Leads Terminal-Bench 4.0 with 71; ranks third on FrontierCode (51) behind Claude Code (56) and Devin Fusion (54); mid-pack on SWE-Atlas-QnA-AA (57)
- Token-efficient: 7.2M tokens per task, roughly half of Claude Code with Opus 5.5 and 30% less than Devin Fusion
- Token costs billed based on underlying models used
