Could iMessage Agents Be Apple's Next App Store-Scale Business?
signulll · x · 2026-10-28
Blogger signulll argues Apple may have accidentally stumbled into a huge new business with iMessage agents, calling it a potentially massive AI platform opportunity.
iMessage Apps mostly flopped, but he imagines an Apple-curated agent store plus APIs for secure health-data access, contacts, location, agent payments and subscriptions — effectively a new App Store-style discovery layer for developers and users. He admits long-term viability is a big open question, but says there is a giant moat only Apple could make work, and it deserves a spot on Apple leadership's agenda.
