Infinity: an open-source Rust agent runtime that treats concurrency as a scheduling problem
ShadajL · x · 2026-10-28
The author open-sourced Infinity (hydro-project, Apache-2.0, 172 stars on day one), a Rust framework for massively concurrent agentic systems. It does for agents what async did for threads: instead of blocking on slow tools, agents run them concurrently, yield while waiting, and cost nothing until the next event arrives.
- Treats agent concurrency as a scheduling problem rather than per-agent blocking
- New tool-call primitives support streaming asynchronous events
- Native serverless support; light enough to fit 75k agents in a Raspberry Pi's memory
- The README demo shows running a test suite while drafting release notes, returning to fix code when a failure event arrives
