LlamaIndex proposes DPP, a shared rulebook for how parsers structure documents for agents
llama_index · x · 2026-10-28
LlamaIndex released a working draft of the Document Parsing Protocol (DPP), a shared rulebook for the judgment calls parsers make — is aligned text a table, should double headers be preserved — since those choices shape what agents understand.
- Covers text, tables, forms, charts, diagrams, plus chemical structures and music notation
- Each rule ships with example pages and expected outputs (the demo walks through an IRS 1040 form: grouped checkboxes, empty boxes, tables inside forms, line-number fields, margin notes)
- A Claude skill and ChatGPT reference file are available for testing on messy real-world pages
