Decision Models cut inference to ~100ms, making the retriever RAG's new latency bottleneck
CShorten30 · x · 2026-10-28
Decision Models run in roughly 100ms versus 1–1.5s for LLMs, which shifts the RAG latency bottleneck to the retriever for the first time, making sub-100ms search the key target.
The attached benchmark shows OpenSearch degrading under load — P99 hits 1,559ms on KNN and 1,424ms on mixed read/write at 100 threads — while Weaviate stays consistently fast at 34–70ms across all scenarios.
