Gmail's default Gemini integration faces class-action suit over email access

A viral post warns that Gmail's default-on "Smart Features" let Gemini process emails, attachments, and related data for summaries, replies, and personalization — often without users realizing it.
A class-action lawsuit (Thele v. Google) over Google enabling these features by default in Gmail, Chat, and Meet was dismissed and refiled, and is still ongoing. Google says it doesn't use Gmail content to train AI models, but the features still grant AI access to message content. The post also includes steps to limit the access in settings.
