Optimizely (research by Savanta) surveyed 2,003 B2B marketing leaders across 7 markets on the 'AI revision tax':
- 76% spend 3+ hours a week editing, fact-checking or correcting AI output; only 4% say AI saves time at every stage
- 25% often publish AI content they know is off-brand under deadline pressure; just 30% believe their brand voice is unmistakable
- 54% say leadership underestimates the human effort; 40% lose time moving data between disconnected systems
- 81% juggle 2+ disconnected tools weekly; only 19% run a single integrated platform, 5% use 7+ tools
- 44% of C-suite pass off AI work as their own; 65% would consider pausing their AI rollout
SVP Tara Corey: 'When the pressure doesn't stop and the infrastructure isn't there, everyone improvises.' Suggested fixes: track fix-hours for two weeks, write recurring corrections into a taste file, name one editor per deliverable.
