Solo dev's Taliri extension swaps webpage words into your target language as you read
theteknosaur · x · 2026-10-28
Indie developer theteknosaur details Taliri, a paid Chrome/Firefox extension that swaps a few words on English pages you read into the language you're learning (Spanish, French, German, Swedish, Hindi). Hover a swapped word for its meaning; later the word blurs and you pick the right definition, with spaced repetition bringing words back. The design is grounded in word frequency: the 1,000 most common word families cover 78% of everyday English reading, so swapping common words maximizes exposure. The author also shares a product lesson: since he's charging for it, the first few seconds must feel right, so the landing page hero is the live product itself — and that page took longer to build than some features.
