VC Stewart Alsop: institutions that only hire seniors are training their rivals' workforce
StewartalsopIII · x · 2026-10-28
Investor Stewart Alsop III argues modern institutions like Microsoft reveal their decay by only hiring senior people and refusing to train the next generation.
Before "technique ate culture," he says, people saw the whole system and understood the ecosystem dies without developing young talent. He points to US manufacturing: instead of training young welders, that capability moved to China. Excuses about competitive advantage are "just narratives" — the real question is how this ends if nobody trains young people.
