Mesh Avatar Studio turns one illustration into an animated avatar via a coding agent
bdsqlsz · x · 2026-10-28
Mesh Avatar Studio, an open-source project (1.3k GitHub stars, MIT license), now lets a coding agent like Codex or Claude Code handle the whole avatar pipeline: run npm run create -- illustration.png and it generates an animated 2D mesh avatar from a single illustration — drawing variants for closed eyes, mouth shapes, and surprise/sadness expressions, even fixing an open-mouth source image first. After a few dozen minutes it opens a local editor for fine-tuning. Built on WebGL mesh deformation, aimed at VTuber-style use cases.
