10 MCP servers in Docker: tool counts range from 1 to 46 per server
LeastAd2616 · reddit · 2026-10-28
The author of MCP directory AgentShortlist started 10 MCP servers in Docker (no credentials, synthetic data) and recorded their tools/list output — all 10 started. Tool counts vary widely: excel-mcp-server exposes 46 tools, chrome-devtools-mcp 32, playwright-mcp and desktop-commander 25 each, down to context7-mcp with just 2 and server-fetch with 1. An unexpected finding: Desktop Commander 0.3.1 embeds its container ID into tool description text, so description hashes differ between runs — not a vulnerability, but it breaks any hash-based description check. Passing install/handshake doesn't mean tools actually work. Method, scripts and hashes are published in the post.
