Ex-OpenAI VP Miles Brundage: LLMs were 'born cheap' vs human labor, explaining rapid adoption
Miles_Brundage · x · 2026-10-28
Miles Brundage, former OpenAI VP of research, argues that even though LLM tokens have gotten much cheaper, they were already cheap relative to "human tokens" from day one — a key reason adoption took off faster than most technologies. He adds this wasn't inevitable: companies could have shipped GPT-3/3.5-level products much sooner at far greater expense.
