Why acquirers prefer sub-$100M AI teams over billion-dollar Neolabs

Parts 9-10 of the Neolab economics thread:
- Retaining talent is hard: after raising at high valuations, stalled progress makes employees doubt the company and their equity; Neolab talent's opportunity cost runs seven to eight figures a year.
- High valuations also raise the acquisition bar: a company valued at $5B that raised $1B requires buyers to clear $1B of liquidation preference before employees see returns — and with the talent war cooling, few buyers can pay. Buying young teams of under 10 people valued below $100M gets you equally strong talent at far lower cost and better returns.
