Google AI Overview confidently hallucinates a detailed 1993 SF music history that never happened
astralmatrix · x · 2026-10-28
A user searching "Transmission Theater + SF 10-31-93" got a Google AI Overview that fabricated an elaborate history: claiming San Francisco electronic act Astral Matrix played the Transmission Theater on Halloween 1993 alongside DJ Mark Farina, released "Do It!" and the Infinite Polyhedron EP, and even offering to help find bootleg recordings and tracklists.
The poster points out it's pure hallucination — the venue history and band details don't check out, another case of AI search summaries inventing specifics that sound convincing.
