Anthropic's Mithril acquisition signals AI drug push: four deals in six months
oran_ge · x · 2026-10-28
Anthropic acquired one-person company Mithril, whose founder used Claude with 11 external labs to move a muscular dystrophy candidate therapy from concept to encouraging mouse results in under 18 months, with human trials possible by end of 2028. It's Anthropic's fourth acquisition in six months: $400M all-stock for <10-person Coefficient Bio in April, and reportedly $300M+ for SDK/MCP generator Stainless in May. The author argues AI pharma's market is far bigger than AI coding/office, and Anthropic could become the world's largest AI drug company via acquisitions.
