Supabase launches Compute in private alpha: run AI agents and long-running jobs next to your Postgres data
dshukertjr · x · 2026-10-28
Supabase announced Supabase Compute (private alpha), letting developers run AI agents, background jobs, and APIs inside their Supabase project, right next to Postgres data—no second platform needed.
Key points:
- Each service gets a full Linux environment; deploy Node, Deno, or any Dockerfile, with no language restrictions
- Sizes of 2GB/1 vCPU or 4GB/2 vCPUs; jobs can run minutes to hours, breaking past Edge Function limits (400s runtime, memory caps)
- Use cases: multi-task AI agents, APIs in any language, durable job processors, hours-long data syncs/embedding backfills, low-latency WebSocket services for voice agents
- Deploys via the existing Supabase CLI (v2.120.0+): enable compute = true in config.toml, then supabase compute new
- Customer Dreambase cut median Postgres query latency from 65ms to 2.9ms after moving its data agent onto Compute
- Private alpha is us-west-2 only; waitlist access is free
