Coarse-graining can scale all-atom sims orders of magnitude, researcher argues
TimothyDuignan · x · 2026-10-28
Responding to the claim that all-atom organism simulation would require 10^26 carbon atoms, Timothy Duignan argues all-atom simulation is just one resolution scale: its outputs can train coarse-grained/accelerated sampling simulations to reach orders of magnitude larger scales. The math is established, he says — the bottleneck is mainly dataset building.
