Anthropic researcher: agents shape human decisions; design models and products to protect agency
AlexTamkin · x · 2026-10-28
Anthropic's Alex Tamkin, discussing a study on how agents influence human decision-making, argues we need a much better understanding of how agents shape people's decisions in and out of work. He notes the study deliberately strengthened the agent's lean to measure its effect, so everyday impact is likely smaller, and it covered only an hourlong task with a single model. He suggests both model behavior design and AI product design can better support human agency.
