Reddit user proposes a "Read Cursor" for ChatGPT so it knows where you stopped reading

A Reddit user proposes a simple UI feature for ChatGPT: a manually placed "Read Cursor" that marks how far into a long response the user actually read.
The core problem: ChatGPT can't distinguish information it generated from information the user consumed, so it may reference details from the bottom of a response the user abandoned halfway.
claimed benefits:
- Interrupting with questions mid-response without the model assuming you read the rest
- Continuity: pick up where you left off
- Less repetition of already-read material
- Personalization: learn when responses exceed your cognitive bandwidth
- Avoid treating unread info as acknowledged
The author's deeper point: assistants should distinguish between ignoring, disagreeing, and simply not having read something. The feature would be optional and user-controlled — no eye tracking.
