Akamai launches Agent Sandbox with outbound network access blocked by default
Codeblix_Ltd · reddit · 2026-10-28
Akamai announced Akamai Inference and Akamai Agent Sandbox on October 27. Inference offers an OpenAI-compatible API to 12 open-weight models, while Agent Sandbox runs agent-generated JavaScript/Python inside a second WebAssembly boundary with outbound network access blocked by default, plus network and resource limits — agents can still call tools and MCP servers from the restricted runtime.
- Built on the open-source Spin project; both products are in beta, access by request
- The practical change is a control boundary around agent-written code
- Caveat: no independent isolation or performance benchmarks published yet — still vendor evidence
