AI finds counterexample in published group theory proof, then proves replacement theorem

Axiom's AI prover found counterexamples to a claim inside the published proof of the Unbalanced Group Theorem, a step in the Classification of Finite Simple Groups. The theorem itself holds: AxiomProver proved a new replacement result building on Ronald Solomon's ideas, and fixed hundreds of major errata along the way — a rare case of AI auditing heavyweight mathematics.
